What is The Hub?

The Hub (Young Professionals of the Hudson Valley) is an organization founded by the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce with a group of like-minded individuals throughout the Hudson Valley, who gathered together to develop an informal peer networking organization that connects ambitious young professionals to the Hudson Valley’s unique cultural, recreational, social, volunteer and professional development opportunities.

The Hub has something for everyone. From professional development to social events and charitable endeavors, we cover important aspects of a young professional’s life. Who are The Hub’s members?
We draw members from all backgrounds and walks of life. We invite anyone between the ages of 21 and 39, or older (but young in spirit and energy!) to join. You’ll meet some of the biggest and best movers and shakers who are changing the way we live, work, play—and stay– in the Hudson Valley!

Where are your members from?
Our members live, work and play in the Hudson River Valley Region. Our specific focus is to build a network in the mid-Hudson area which includes Dutchess, Orange and Ulster Counties. Our events will be held in all three counties over the calendar year—so there will be plenty of things to do, right in your own backyard.

Is there a fee to join?
If you or your organization is already a member of Hudson Valley Regional Chamber Member*: $50 per year (* Hudson Valley Regional Chamber Member are considered those with memberships in good standing at the Greater Southern Dutchess, Orange County, Poughkeepsie Area, New Paltz Regional, Sullivan County, Ulster County and Hudson Valley Gateway Chambers of Commerce); If you’re not a member, that’s ok too. For a $75 membership investment, and with minimal fees for certain events, you’ll be on your way to networking with the Hudson Valley’s best and brightest! Membership benefits include regular e-vites to events, an opportunity to attend multiple networking events per year, professional development opportunities, and an opportunity to get involved in an area of your interest through one of our many committees.

Can I attend an event without being a member?
Yes. Non-members can attend as guests to one networking session so that you can “try us on for size.” Non member participation is limited, however, to one event per calendar year. Special events and trips sponsored by the Hub are reserved for members only.

I would like to come to an event, but I don't know anyone.
If you don’t know anyone, don’t worry! There are plenty of people exactly like you—and it’s likely that they’ll be in the other corner of the room. Go to that opposite corner and seek them out. They have the same fear and will welcome your approach. The reality is that the benefits of networking are quite amazing. It requires no fancy skills, no unique knowledge, no special abilities, training, software, equipment—not even a lucky rabbit’s foot. And successful networking will not only build your book of business and boost your profits, but will enhance your reputation, and even make your personal life a little more fun, too.
